The IACS is pleased to announce their 2023 Scholarship Program with the express purpose to recognize exemplary achievement, excellent character, outstanding merit, and productive citizenship. The scholarship committee will review applications for a large spectrum of categories including but not limited to, higher education, vocational, arts, science, and music.
We are also pleased to offer The Vincenza Trunzo Spinelli Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship’s mission is to provide support for students to pursue a degree at an accredited Michigan College or University. Scholarships funded by the Spinelli Family.
Mrs. Vincenza T. Spinelli was a person who understood that not just to survive but to thrive, you needed to work hard, smart, be determined and persevere with whatever opportunities you had. She was a firm believer in not waiting for things to happen but making them happen. Mrs. Spinelli was a lifelong learner with many interests and hobbies in various areas. Although she did not have a formal education, Mrs. Spinelli was a big advocate of higher education and advancing yourself to secure your future.
Sadly we lost Mrs. Spinelli in July, 2022 and to honor her legacy, the Spinelli Family has established the Vincenza Trunzo Spinelli Memorial Scholarship Fund. This Scholarship Fund will be used to support and encourage others to pursue their educational goals via higher education.
As a way to give back to the community for which Mrs. Spinelli loved and lived in for many years, an initial scholarship fund in the amount of $5,000 has been set up though the assistance and support of the Italian-American Cultural Society (IACS). Scholarship funds will be given out to selected individual(s) who meet the established criteria outlined in the IACS application. First generation High school Seniors as well as 1st -2nd year college students attending a Michigan College or University are highly encouraged to apply.
While we are open to supporting many academic areas of interest, we encourage students pursuing STEM and health care degrees to apply.
Scholarship funds will be awarded based on need and final determination of the IACS scholarship committee with awards from $1,000 to $2,500 per person.
Submissions will be accepted from 5/1 – 7/31
